Sandra Cisneros is one of my favorite authors even though I haven't read any of her books since college days... oh that is sad.. I really enjoy reading and re-reading the book- the house on mango street by Sandra Cisneros. the three books I am reading now in my life are about potty training, love and logic parenting and a beth moore bible study (that counts).
~~ Back to thinking about birthdays~~
I also like her story/poem "Eleven". Here is an excerpt from it:
"What they don’t understand about birthdays and what they never tell you is that when you’re eleven, you’re also ten, and nine, and eight, and seven, and six, and five, and four, and three, and two, and one. And when you wake up on your eleventh birthday you expect to feel eleven, but you don’t. You open your eyes and everything’s just like yesterday, only it’s today. And you don’t feel eleven at all. You feel like you’re still ten. And you are – underneath the year that makes you eleven"
I am not sure how I feel about my birthday this year. And no I am not going to be Eleven. Matt asked me what I would like to do. That is before he plans the whole weekend full of fun. (I hope.) And I am really not sure what I want to do.1. I want a long hot bath, with bubbles calm n quiet. Long enough to read a little.
2. I want to get my eyebrows wax...really...they need it!
3. I want a good peppermint latte. hummm...
4. I want to dress like a fashion forward mom. (that one will take time & work) :)
5. ???
